The Campus Innovation 2023, which took place from 27 to 29 November 2023 under the motto “Upd@te digital transformation – AI, sustainability and OER at universities”, was once again an enriching event. After a period of restrictions due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the conference could be held again this year for the first time by Multimedia Kontor Hamburg in presence. The KNOER network was actively involved as a partner of the event and presented some program items as well as barcamp sessions.
On Thursday, September 28, an entire track was dedicated to sustainability and OER. Prof. Dr. Kerstin Mayrberger opened the part of the track that revolved around OER with her presentation “Higher Education of the Future as Open Educational Practices in the Context of Values, Principles and Practices in (Post-)Digitality”. Afterwards, Prof. Dr. Daniel Otto reflected on “20 years of OER in Germany: a reflection on the genesis between idealism and pragmatism”.
A highlight of the day was undoubtedly the OER slam, where Axel Dürkop, Prof. Dr. Matthias Harter, PD Dr. Klaus Schaper and Prof. Dr. Martin Schultze presented their OER projects and experiences in a short and concise way. The audience had the honor of deciding the winner, with an applause meter! The OER slam was moderated by PD Dr. Markus Deimann (orca.nrw) and Dr. Konrad Faber (VCRP), both of whom are also chairs of KNOER – Cooperation Network for OER Supportive Infrastructures and Services. All OER slammers deserved first place, but Prof. Dr. Martin Schultze from Goethe University Frankfurt ultimately secured the victory, earning thunderous applause.
On Friday, September 29, various barcamp sessions took place around the topic of OER. Dr. Klaus Wannemacher (HIS-HE), for example, presented the study on OER-promoting infrastructures, while Axel Klinger (TIB Hannover) led a session on “Mediating open and sustainable formats and a comparison of collaboration environments and repositories”.
The Roadmap digital higher education was presented by Michael Schubert, Bastian Granas (both VDI/VDE), PD Dr. Markus Deimann and Dr. Konrad Faber. A concluding fishbowl discussion, moderated by Dr. Konrad Faber and PD Dr. Markus Deimann, allowed participants to further explore the topics. In addition to the permanent panel guests Axel Klinger, Prof. Dr. Magdalène Lévy-Tödter and Prof. Dr. Daniel Otto, other interlocutors from the audience were also included in the discussion. This led to a lively and exciting exchange.
